What’s the deal with Lenscrafters?

Tuesday, September 27th, 2005

No seriously. I don’t get it. They insist that you get their scratch resistent lenses for your glasses. But then, if you clean them with anything other than THEIR lint-free cloth, you have to pay 50% of the cost to replace them. They charge you 3 times more for these “special lenses” than regular plastic ones. Which I have never had a problem with as far as scratching goes. I just think it is ridiculous to have been told that the lenses were scratch resistant, but have them scratch when I use a special lint-free cloth on them.

I don’t get people and their warranties. I don’t understand why they tell you that their extended service plan will cover sand and humidity damage and then try and charge you $400 to repair a camera because when they opened it up it was corroded inside. I didn’t corrode it. That is why I bought the damn warranty. They said that taking pictures at the ocean will cause corrosion. Who the hell doesn’t take pictures when you go to the ocean!?! Honestly. I could go to the ocean EVERY day and I would still want to take more pictures. I have ruined TWO digital cameras that way.

I just wish people stood behind their product. And their promises. Bastards.

p.s. Obviously they won’t fix my digital camera under the warranty. Today I purchased a “weather proof” digital camera. If this doesn’t solve my problem, I don’t think anything will.

blinding compliments.

This was an interesting weekend. I went to a second wedding reception for Winemonkey’s friend. It was interesting to say the least. The wife of the couple grew up in a cult. I am not joking, only a few families removed from the Manson family. And so there were a lot of people there who looked homeless (i.e. scraggly beards, long unkept hair, no fashion sense). I can’t even get into the details of how weird the dynamics were in this group. Suffice to say, the groom’s little brother and his friend played an accoustic set of hard rock only to be followed by some “homeless” man playing the bagpipes. Who didn’t like Winemonkey yelling the phrase, “We’ve got a piper down!” no matter how great his scottish accent was.

But that point of the story is not about these guys. It is about this guy I have always had an affinity for. He is genuinely nice and the strangest, yet coolest guy in Winemonkey’s circle of friends. He was standing next to me when we first got there and it was just the two of us and he commented on how beautiful my blue eyes were. Now, if you knew this guy you would know that this wasn’t him hitting on me or anything of the like. He was just being sincere. And then he commented on how his compliment made me blush and then, to make the comment a little less out of the blue, we talked about my angry school marm look. You know the one. Where I peer over my glasses at you. Regardless… it was flattering and completely unexpected. And it made me like the guy that much more.

Then, later on, during our second tour through the party, the groom’s brother’s wife asked me to model for her. On the premise that she didn’t like the skinny 17-18 year old models who looked sick and that she loved my hair and skin. She is a hair stylist so I will get a cut and dye job from her and make-up from someone who does make-up and then go to a photo shoot. It would be one thing if it was going to be someone I didn’t know cutting and dying my hair, but she has already cut my hair successfully.

It was a good weekend. And next weekend? I get to work at the winery and GRAPES are coming in!!!!!!!!!! So I will get to meet the winemaker and the owners of the winery that Winemonkey is currently working for. And I get to make my famous fried chicken. YAY!

It is chaotic, but you can’t see it.

I have at least one recipe if not ten backlogged for my craft page. And for some reason my links aren’t opening correctly. And soon, I hope there will be a mini-blog for Sheesa over in the sidebar. All of this excitement, but you can see any of it!

I think the pages not showing is because of the host and the link stuff might just be me… and the mini-blog… well that is the designer. I am excited for it all to come together!

And did you check out Dooce today? I love the star wars thing. Too cute.

It is also chaotic because I have been overly emotional lately. However, I think that I might be gaining control over that. I did need those mental health days though.

And, nothing funny has happened to me lately. I apparently wasted all of my humor on the Crappy Presentation post.

The Used. Just that one song. Though I would like to listen to the whole CD someday.
