Why collaborative research sucks…

October 28th, 2005

or alternatively titled: Why Michelle is never going to get done with her thesis in time.

My co-worker wants me to go back and refit approximately 50 sample spectra. That translates to a week’s worth of analysis. WHICH MEANS that all of the figures that I have made and all of the conclusions that I have drawn ARE GOING. TO. CHANGE.

And this is only for the second paper. Which means that my third chapter may never see the light of day. I don’t know if this is just more complicated than other people’s research or how people actually finish their degree in a timely fashion, but I am so annoyed right now. I am so glad I am working from home this afternoon.

  1. I’ve never liked group work for precisely that reason! That totally sucks that you have to redo some of your work. I’m hoping the same thing doesn’t happen to me when I get my first chapters back from my advisor.
