Why collaborative research sucks…

or alternatively titled: Why Michelle is never going to get done with her thesis in time.

My co-worker wants me to go back and refit approximately 50 sample spectra. That translates to a week’s worth of analysis. WHICH MEANS that all of the figures that I have made and all of the conclusions that I have drawn ARE GOING. TO. CHANGE.

And this is only for the second paper. Which means that my third chapter may never see the light of day. I don’t know if this is just more complicated than other people’s research or how people actually finish their degree in a timely fashion, but I am so annoyed right now. I am so glad I am working from home this afternoon.

  • I’ve never liked group work for precisely that reason! That totally sucks that you have to redo some of your work. I’m hoping the same thing doesn’t happen to me when I get my first chapters back from my advisor.
