The Beginning…

Friday, March 31st, 2006

Well we are getting ready to load up Winemonkey’s truck with some of his stuff… Our big plans for today include: checking into our new place, getting a Costco card, grocery shopping, buying the first season of Lost on DVD, ordering take out pizza (tradition on first night), setting up the air mattress in front of the fireplace, and snuggling in for our first night!

Oh my!

What’s my age again?

This is it. I have reverted back to being eight years old again. Tuesday was spent playing dodgeball. Yes you heard me….dodgeball. You line up against the wall where you are then singled out or picked for a team. This is of course then followed by a voluntarily decision to get nailed with a kickball at close range. I haven’t played dodgeball since I was in grade school and now I understand why you don’t see people my age playing it very often. It is actually a very tough (and yes I am going to say it) sport to play. I can catch the ball, but apparently I “throw like a girl”. Didn’t know if the person caught this when he told me that, but I AM A GIRL. All in all it was very entertaining. My body does not feel like it used to when I was eight. I hurt…for two days. If I didn’t have to leave town next week I would be playing kickball. I also just recently bought a jump rope so I can take it with me on long trips to exercise. Soon I will be hopscotching across town. Look out.

I’m feelin it now.

Well, the bedroom is mostly packed. I have my last minute box on standby and my luggage ready to pack up my clothes in my dresser. I still have to go through a mountain of paperwork in my office and get things squared away in there. Plus I have to go through the kitchen stuff. I know that my catch phrase when packing is, “I don’t have that much stuff”, but my floor is just about covered with boxes and I am wondering if I will be able to see out my window when everything is said and done.

All I have to say is THANK GOD for movers! Seriously. I hope that everything goes smoothly. So far the landlord has changed our move in date about 3 times. I don’t know why, but it is a little frustrating. Well… more than a little frustrating. But I am going to stick with my original game plan and just have the movers come on Monday. Grant it I will have a lot to finish on Monday night so that I am prepared for my meeting with my advisor on Tuesday, but I think that it is better this way.

I haven’t been sleeping well. I am sure that it is stress related. I am sore from yoga on Monday and tonight is my last class. I am going to have dinner with my country roommate tonight and I am meeting one of my yoga friends for tea and to meet her puppy. This is a BUSY day!

Pandora

This is awesome. You pick an artist or song that you like and it will pick out music that is similar to it. I admit that I have been spending more time than I should picking music, but it is great to hear such a variety during the day…

Boxes per square foot.

That is my new delimma. How many boxes can I fit in my bedroom and still be able to at least get to my bed…

But all in all, the packing is going smoothly. Of course, today I was planning on tackling my office at school and that is going to take a whole hell of a lot. It is amazing how I just move shit from one place to another instead of getting rid of things. I have a feeling there is going to be a big purge with this move again. Of course, this is only possible because my meeting with my boss was canceled this afternoon. Which means I have another week to get something good done on my dissertation.

I am trying to design some “change of address” cards. I was going to go with something that involved the devil and hell, since of course me and the ‘monkey will be living in sin. And though a few of my friends will find it funny, I have a feeling that my family wouldn’t think it was amusing at all and Winemonkey’s friends probably won’t even get it… well maybe they would…

The other design idea I have involves some art deco font, but I can’t come up with a good art deco decoration. So that is my big story for today.

Another blue screen.

I know that it is Murphy’s Law. It is because I am moving away from the campus and away from the super IT people that my computer is doing this to me now. It just wants to watch me squirm with worry that I will no longer have a computer. I think part of the problem is that my hard drive is busting at its proverbial seams with information. I called Dell to see if I could get a bigger hard drive, but alas, they don’t make anything bigger than what I have. It is a little scary. I think I am going to have to get a second external hard drive just to back up all of my data and music so that if this computer bites the big one, I will at least have absolutely EVERYTHING all in one place.

Dear Blue Screen of Death,

You don’t scare me. I will ALWAYS beat you. Even if I have to buy a new computer I am always one step ahead of you with my mad crazy back-up skills. So you can flash your little blue heart out. I will not panic. I will not PANIC!

Sincerely,

Your irritated nemesis
