Rollin’ out

Thursday, September 28th, 2006

This weekend is going to be huge for harvest. I think that the winery is getting 10 tons of grapes. You probably can’t even imagine ten tons of grapes, but rest assured, it is a LOT. And those grapes all need to be hand sorted. And guess who is going out of town?

That’s right. It’s me.

I am not volunteering this weekend to help because I am going to see my sister and help her move. And I am excited that I am going to get to spend time with her. I feel bad for Winemonkey… but I will be there for the rest of the weekends.

So I’m rollin’ on out as the grapes are rollin’ on in.

You know, when I was updating every day and putting up pictures and stuff… that took a lot of time. I can totally see how blogging can become your job. It wouldn’t be a bad job, especially if it is your only job.

The good and the good.

Two very nice things happened yesterday:

My family sent me flowers. On a Tuesday. Tuesdays are the hardest day for me. It seems like two labs and department meeting totally rain on my parade. So to come home and there be a little bundle of flowers totally made my night.

The second thing that happened was that Winemonkey said that he missed living with just me. Which doesn’t mean that we are going to try and get rid of Lil’ Monkey, just that we both agree that it was nice living on our own. It just made me feel special and not like a roommate, which is how I feel sometimes.

About the venting, it helped.

I have had numerous meetings where I have been told that it probably won’t get any better. I have had meetings where I was told to not confide in particular people in my work environment. And I think, as long as I keep myself at arm’s length of everyone else’s drama, I should make it out of this semester unscathed. I might even make it through the spring semester. I will be teaching two classes that I have taught before, which is great, but I will be back to the grading a 40-some-odd papers and that takes a long long time.

Last night we went over to our friends’ house. They have a little girl, who is 2 years old. And her laughter is like a bright warm light. It is amazing her affect on me. I invited my household over, just so I could spend time with her. And? They announced that they are having ANOTHER! I just can’t wait. =)
