They don’t call me “Whirly” for nothin’

October 2nd, 2006

This weekend I did the following:

1. Finished what I am hoping is the second to last edit of my second chapter.
2. Moved my sister.
3. Spent 3 hours at IKEA and 3 hours shopping at other stores.
4. Spent 5 total hours assembling and wall-mounting 8 pieces of IKEA furniture.
5. Had breakfast with the Porter-B929 household.
6. Went to a memorial service for a friend’s mother. (Breast cancer is a bitch.)
7. Went to an expensive, albeit PERFECT dinner with another couple.
8. Had two very distinctly different troubling dreams.

My thoughts on these activities:
1. THANK GOD THIS SHIT IS ALMOST DONE! One more chapter to go.
2. Even when you don’t have that much stuff, moving is still a pain in the ass. One of her co-workers brought over Thai food during the move. That was particularly awesome as he picked my favorite curry on the menu.
3. Holy hell. Shopping for six hours can really take a lot out of you.
4. Holy hell. Assembling IKEA furniture can really take a lot of out of you. And wall-mounting the shoe racks, I apologize to whomever I might have woken up at 8 am with the pounding.
5. Too short, but a blast. I love those kids.
6. The memorial was beautiful… in a senic location overlooking a wine valley. Very casual and not terribly sad. She was a teacher so there were kids and parents from the district. It was unbelievable the stories they had of her patience and caring. I got to see the friend that introduced me to Winemonkey. This friend and I haven’t talked in a long long time. I miss him. So hopefully we won’t be such strangers after this.
7. We ate appetizers at this restaurant called Willi’s Raw Bar. The food - delicious. The company - even better.
8. The dreams. Let’s just say one was very passionate and I was turned into a vampire and then committed dramatic suicide when my love was murdered. The second involved me getting supremely pissed at my sister for making bad choices. Repeatedly.

The End.

One Response to “They don’t call me “Whirly” for nothin’”

  1. What? I never make bad choices?

I seriously can not thank you enough for all your help this weekend by the way! You are the best sister any girl could ever ask for!
