A little on the nervous side

Wednesday, December 13th, 2006

When doctors start talking about iv’s and morphine - I think that’s when I start to panic. I did not think my infection was this bad. My doctor is not entirely convinced that my antibiotic is working. So this evening I spent another night peeing into a cup, giving blood, and wondering if my kidney will be ok. One bonus is that my NorCal doctor gave me vicadin. I’m a little aprehensive about taking it, but I know it will help with the pain. I talked to my boss tonight - I am going to work from home tomorrow. Hopefully the uncomfortable constant pain in my back with cease tomorrow. We’ll see.

On another note - my boyfriend is amazing. He has been really supportive of this whole thing. He is just wonderful - especially at taking care of me.

Hospitals in SoCal are nicer

So last night I flew into Southern California. I am staying with my cousin. The plan was to have a nice dinner and catch up. The actual events that took place were way less pleasant.

I ended up at the urgent care clinic in the hospital. I have a severe kidney infection. Treatment you ask - two shots in the ass. One for the antibiotic which hurt so much I almost threw up and another one for the pain. Which one do you think they gave me first? You betcha…the antibiotic of course.

I’m so vain

I got my teeth fixed this week. Here is a link to some before and after images.

On another note… I am not very good at being a girlfriend. I am still set in my single ways. I think it will take me quite some time to get out of that mode.

The interview.

Friday, December 8th, 2006

Well. It is hard to say. I had my interview yesterday and it was a long long day. By the end I just wanted to go home. But ultimately I had a great time doing my presentations and a good time talking to the people in charge. My co-workers were all on their best behavior, which was the best that I could hope for. I have to stop and get thank you cards for everyone.

The only sad thing is that I spent the last week or two being very stressed out about the interview and about keeping my classes up to speed. I “missed” Winemonkey’s birthday on Wednesday because I worked super late on Wednesday night. I was out of bed before him that morning and he was in bed by the time I got home. =( It is a good thing I took him out to a nice dinner last Sunday. But I still feel like I cheated him.

Porter and B929 had a little girl over Thanksgiving, just like Porter predicted. I haven’t had a chance to see them since the day at the hospital, but hopefully when my parents are in town I will get a chance to stop by. Of course, we will be spending a few days with the family up at the cabin over New Years.

It feels like a world of stress has been lifted from my shoulders. But now I have to go and write two finals. The kind of finals that will keep everyone’s grades right where they are.
