couch grouch

I have not been to the gym for five days. I was planning on taking this whole week off. What a difference – I AM MISERABLE! I am depressed, lazy, and tired. I come home and I just watch TV. I have no hobbies anymore.

Next week I start my web design class and in a few weeks I start my bowling league again. This should help. I think I am going to the gym tomorrow. I can’t take it anymore.

weight of it all

I have begun to weigh the benefits of working out and lifting weights to the discomfort of a continuous headache. My neck is so incredible sore that when I turn a certain way I see stars. Going to the chiropractor should help, but it seems that as soon as I get home I mess it up again.

Today I weighed and measured myself just to see where I stand since the first time I weighed and measured (back in April). I’ve lost a total of 9.5″ and 8 pounds since April.

Today was the lightest I have been to date. I am going to contribute it to not really eating the past fews days though. My doctor gave me medication for the headache and my stomach has not been very happy with me. Let me rephrase that, my entire body has not been happy with the medication. Not being able to focus, stand up, or even talk are not acceptable side effects. I really need to get rid of this debilitating headache. seriously.

How can I be so busy?

Honestly. I don’t even have a job!

Last night I spent an exorbitant amount of money on a birthday dinner. But the dinner was good an the company better. We went to a restaurant called Zazu. We have a few small plates and shared a couple of dinners. In my opinion, the best thing we had was a lavender fried rabbit with cornmeal waffles and maple butter. We also had a great sampling of wines and champagnes.

Anyway… I have been strangely busy this week. I went out to dinner on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. I am making pizza with some friends tonight AND we are leaving for camping on Monday so that leaves me just the weekend to get everything together and what not. That doesn’t include our plans for dinner over at another friend’s house on Friday or the air show that we are planning on going to on Sunday. Wooo Weeeee! Now if only I could afford all of this fun.

Another day in paradise….

Well… not really. But maybe we could call it “Another day in Accomplishment City.” I have finished the laundry, made a delicious tomato salad, cleaned the kitchen, and gotten checks signed so that all I have to do is head out the door to the bank.

This past weekend was great. My sister helped me shop for some new clothes and for the first time in a few months I have what I feel are fashionable, well-fitting clothes. Unfortunately, this success led to a set-back in the financial department. But I am really hoping that I can get my shit together and get myself into some networking situations. It is amazing how looking nice can make you feel better and happier.

Because not only did I spend an awesome weekend with Sheesha playing games, drinking wine, and shopping, but I also went to the CAREER COUNSELOR. And she told me that I am doing everything right, I just need to network more. She said that I was a good writer (obviously she hasn’t seen my blog full of typos and bad grammar) and that I seemed to tackle each letter and resume with finesse to match the job description. She also said that it was just a matter of time and to not give up. Three months into the job search is generally when people start getting calls back. So it has been three months.

She also told me that 1 out of 600 resumes leads to am interview. 1 out of 12 informational interviews leads to a job.

So I am hunting down professional organizations where I might meet people in my line of work or doing something that I would like to do.

Funny thing about the career counselor – when she looked at some of my resumes, my bullets were different in different sections and in one case I had put my education twice. She laughed and said that it was a good thing that I didn’t use the phrase “pays close attention to detail” anywhere to describe myself! But I am going to go back and fix those mistakes.
