wedding update

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

1. We have a wedding planner – that is included in the cost of the package.
2. She already reserved the ceremony site for August 8, 2008 (yes we are getting married on 08-08-08)
3. I feel super relieved that I really don’t have to do much of the planning.
4. She made me feel really confident that we can do this within our budget constraints.

Below are some of the things included:

  • Non-denominational minister
  • Flowers – very basic in-season/local flowers
  • Cake
  • Dinner Reservations/Meals for 25 people
  • 25 chairs at ceremony
  • Solo Musician for ceremony (acoustic guitar or violin preferred)
  • accommodations for bride&groom (all other accommodations will be arranged by the guests)
  • wine (corkage fee)
  • Hopefully this will be about $4000. That would leave us about $1000 for the dress, Lam’s attire, his ring, and any other misc item that comes up.

Has anyone used Squarespace services? I am thinking about changing from where i am to something a little more user friendly…

I’ve got three words for you: Tower Cafe desserts.

    Who’s hosting this crap?!?

    Monday, October 22nd, 2007

So I think a while back, my host for this site sold to another hosting company. I have no idea who this new host is. Does anyone know how I can find out? Part of me wants you to say something simple so that this isn’t a headache, but another part of me wants it to be complicated so that I don’t look like an idiot. =)

My main concern is that there are lots of functions on this site that aren’t working and I would like to see if it is on the design end or the hosting end.

Speaking of which, I am ready for some revamping of this site, so if you have a friend who does good work, let me know.

    Another pro of moving back

    Monday, October 22nd, 2007

After playing phone tag with my jet-setting sister, I started thinking about the possibility of starting a new tradition with her. Maybe once I move back she and I can get together intentionally every week to have coffee or play a game. It will be nice to see her and her soon-to-be husband a little more often.

    Un-numbered pro of moving back

This morning I showered around 10 am. I got dressed and I went to Starbucks. I only chose Starbucks because it is close to my house, has comfortable seating, and they make the most sinful and irresistible pumpkin spice latte. It is funny how I am against the big box stores like Walmart and Target, but somehow I am inexplicably drawn to Starbucks. But I digress…

I ordered my usual, a sausage sandwich, no egg, and a grande pumpkin spice latte. I curled up in their corner booth and read. And I remembered all of those Sunday mornings when Porter and I would go to the farmer’s market and then head over to a local coffee shop. We would dissect the Sunday paper and begin pouring over the sales ads, I got the electronic sections first, she looked at all of the others. We would typically finish with the comics and then head back to her house. Once there, we would bake pies or some other treat and take a portion over to the firemen.

Sometimes it makes me a little sad to realize that so much time has passed since the last time we did this. I am relieved that we aren’t traveling in different directions, just traveling in different towns. I love that when we do get to spend time together, it holds the same feeling of camaraderie and closeness.

There are only handful of reasons why I am looking forward to moving back to Sacramento. Those Sundays are one of them. And now we’ll get to share them with little Miss M. I hope she likes bacon, eggs, and cafe au laits (although I am sure she will be on warm milk until her teen years).
