New WordPress

Well, it isn’t really new… in fact, it has existed for like a gillion years. I just finally found someone who could update it.

Thanks Ben!

You probably can’t even tell on this end, but the admin page is a lot nicer. I am currently at work so I can’t write a big post, but I wanted to just make sure that most parts are working correctly.

break out the scissors

Things over here have broken out into full wedding planning mode. I think this is the first time in a really long time that I have gotten this excited about something. Lam says it is nice to see me so passionate about something other than him. :)

Thank god for Chelle because she is the crafting queen. I would be lost in a pile of fabrics and paper without her, probably passed out from the glue fumes. This is just one of the many many reasons why she is the maid of honor.

I bought my dress on Monday which was the first “big” purchase of the wedding. I love it mostly because I feel like such a princess in it (even without the big poofy skirt).

The first official craft night is next Wednesday. Let the origami madness begin!

My life in math

11/15 of my life was spent in Pennsylvania, which means that 4/15 of my life has been in CA.
5/6 of my life I have been a student.
1/6 of my life I have spent with Winemonkey.
2/3 of my life I played slow pitch softball.
2/15 of my life I have been blogging.
Less than 1% of my life, I have had a “real job”.

I’m thirty. 3-Oh!

Good lord that was a great party! Seriously, the wine cave looked beautiful. Kelly and Vic came in from Seattle on Friday evening. She helped me make a bunch of super “Martha” birthday hats. As if one set of friends from Seattle visiting wasn’t enough, my cousin and her boyfriend came in from Philadelphia, Lisa and Lambert came in from Sacramento as well as Miss P. And the unexpected surprise was S&B from Nashville! I can’t believe that they came out! It was so great to have everyone in the same place at the same time. I don’t think I could express my gratitude enough.

I dawned on me that with the exception of a handful of people (my parents and grandma, B929 and all of the kids) everyone who really means something to me was there. I have pictures that are taking a century to upload, but rest assured that I will be setting up a link to them as soon as possible.

The food was great, the company even better. It was a great welcome into my 30′s. Everyone should be so lucky.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!

Today is my dad’s 60th birthday. I love him and I hope that he had a GREAT day!

It has taken nearly 30 years to be able to tell my father that I think he is a great man. I like hanging out with him. I like talking to him. Like my mother, he is always there for me. And although I tease him about being a bad date because he never calls me back, he always answers when I call.

As I told him, and as you well know, this past year was a doozie. Without him, it would have been impossible. He and my mother, along with a handful of people and a couple of super cute kids, really kept me going day to day. I know that it was hard for him to see me like that and I am glad that he didn’t push me away so that he wouldn’t have to deal with it.

I am still shocked at what a good listener he is. SHOCKED I say.

So here is to my dad. The man I wouldn’t mind my future husband to be just a little bit like.

p.s. thanks for the baby blues.

Not that I blame her. I can be pretty lame sometimes… and honestly, I wasn’t posting much.
