Chicken

Today I was called a chicken. Because I didn’t want to sit around and argue… especially because the argument was making me late for a class I was taking today.

I am not an argumentative person in general. Any of my friends or family will attest that I occasionally find a high horse to ride in on, but it is rare and usually understandable. But when someone picks fights with me, I generally just want to walk away. Particularly if they are arguing with me and I agree with what they are saying. FYI – That isn’t arguing so why must we continue this?

Anyway. To be called chicken because I don’t want to waste my time is just uncalled for. Especially when I feel like I walk a thin line by staying there.

SUNBURNED!

My shins haven’t been this sunburned in a long, long time. But I have to say, the pain, stinging, and trouble walking was well worth the nap we took. We did not end up making the hot dogs wrapped in croissants… we just grilled them. Sie and Brown Bear met us for dinner on Saturday evening. It was a great surprise and inspired us to go camping with them again this weekend. Hopefully I will be able to get Friday off from work so that ew can spend more time out in the wilderness. That would be the best.

But back to this weekend. It was really cold. Hard to believe with the sunburn I am sporting… but because of the wind chill I only have burns on my shins and a patch on my chest. The rest of me was covered for warmth. Sleeping at night was an interesting experience. Pebbles did not have her own sleeping bag so she had to climb into the bottom of mine. Winemonkey and I were both a little nervous about her suffocating down there, but she emerged the next morning like a little ball of sunshine. She had somehow wiggled out of her sweater during the night. The second night we put the rain fly on and it was infinitely times warmer in the tent. Pebs spent the night blanket-free snuggling alternatively with me and Winemonkey.

All in all, Pebs was a great little camper. She is so mellow it is hard to tell if she liked or hated it. But at least she didn’t seem miserable.

Camping!

This weekend is Pebbles first camping trip. I am pretty excited to get away. We are going to try a couple of ideas from the ljc. This includes the hot dogs and croissants on a stick and the mini snickers in marshmallows.

Just thinking about it makes me want to bolt out of this office and get on the road!

Aren’t they the cutest?!?

I love that Miss M liked Pebbles’ crate enough to climb in. It obviously doesn’t smell too bad in there…

I also love the fact that they are about the same size… and that they like one another.

Who could ask for more?

Not a pound.

I walk 3 – 5 miles every day. EVERY SINGLE DAY. And I try and eat healthy. And I have been doing this for about 6 months now… In fact, as of today I have been doing it for 6 months. And how does my body thank me?

By hanging on to every pound of fat, flesh, muscle and water I brought here with me.

Seriously. It kind of sucks.

How many weekends of nothingness?

How many weekends of nothing can you do without it being worn out?

Seriously. This weekend I got a massage, sent my doggie on her first overnighter, and baked cookies…

And relaxed. And enjoyed every minute of it.

After the massage, Porter, her hubby and I ate baked fake fried food and played guitar hero until our eyes stung. (Don’t worry, the eye stinging was due to allergies and not from relentless staring at the tv screen.)

The duality of my life is overwhelming sometimes. I had such a good weekend here in Sacramento. But I missed being in Santa Rosa. And I know that if I had spent the weekend there, I would have felt the exact opposite. I wish I could figure out how to make it perfect and not a sacrifice one way or the other.

Today Lisa did something she doesn’t normally do. Something at the last minute. When she isn’t feeling well to begin with. In fact, I saw Lisa and Lam every day this weekend. And I saw Porter Friday and today. And I saw Winemonkey Saturday and today. I have to say I’m pretty lucky.
