A day off…

Friday, February 27th, 2009

It is amazing how good it feels sleeping in until 8:15. And getting up without an agenda. I have been working quite a bit of overtime and although we aren’t quite to the end of the project, it is so close I can feel it. And if working so much wasn’t hard enough, our weekends are endless arrays of dinner with friends and social gatherings. Not that I am complaining. But don’t you ever just wish that there was a break. One day where you had no plans and the world could be your oyster? You have seen everyone you wanted to see and there was still time left in the weekend? Well I hope that day comes soon.

So I woke up this morning and felt great! And as my friend Jess says, “It smells like spring.” And so I think this morning I will take a few hours to spring clean and get some of the clutter out of my apartment. Then I will go out and greet the afternoon with a big smile and a nice drive.

I wish I could feel this great all of the time.

wedding spot

Here is where I will put updates on wedding stuff… YAY WEDDINGS!

And I thought the car was sparkly

But the engagement ring that Winemonkey gave me on Valentine’s Day trumps the new car.

In a moment of what I thought was spontaneity at its best, Winemonkey suggested we head to one of our favorite restaurants, Rocker Oysterfeller’s. We had a late dinner and hung out with the crew after the restaurant closed. Someone popped in the Waylon Jennings 8-track that my grandma had when I was a kid. Champagne was presented to us and I had something in the bottom of my glass. It was a ring! And as soon as I realized what it was, Winemonkey was down on one knee, asking me to marry him!

In a very classic Michelle way, my hands went to my face and covered my mouth. I shook my head yes and then there was lots of kissing and happiness. He told me that he had called my dad on Thursday to ask for my hand in marriage. I cried. Winemonkey cried. It was awesome.

And then we ate a dozen cupcakes and ribs and french fries with our friends until almost 2 am.
